Jazz Legend George Duke Dies

(a mellow man has passed on)
By Glenn Peppers

I regretfully inform all those with ears, eyes and hearts, and a love of jazz and jazz fusion, and funk; that the great George Duke as passed on. His going home occurred the evening of the 5th of August, 2013. Details are sketchy as to exactly what happened. Yet it was clear according to those close to him that Duke had been in a deep depression since the passing of his wife (Corine) just a year ago, July 18, 2012.

Stanley Clarke and George Duke Jamming
Duke "Dropped us off into some Funk, and took us to the bridge" with funky tunes like "Reach for It!" Who didn't love the mellow sounds of he and jazz fusion bass aficionado, Stanley Clarke with songs like, "Sweet Baby!"

George and Corine
Dukes producing and keyboard skills were unparalleled! The perfect session man, George Duke could jam with anyone! According to Duke's Facebook Fan Page, it is assumed that George Duke passed away from complication with a long bout with cancer. The official medical report has yet to arise, as it is a bit too soon to confirm an exact cause of death!

So as we all reflect, lets listen and see George Duke in action. Rest in peace hero of mine, and hug Corine for us all, grand dear musical warrior!
