“Bryant Gumbel’s Son Racially Profiled by Police”
(Proof that it can happen to anyone)

As I shake my head in disgust, I had to whisper under my breath that this commentary has weight! Police Brutality is Real! Racial profiling is real! Ask Bryant Gumbel's son! This admonishment came from Bryant Gumbel himself on the PBS television show, "The Charlie Rose Show!". As you may well know, Bryant Gumbel is a man of whom the entertainment and sports world thinks highly of, speaks volumes to me! There is a serious problem here in america folks, and it is not going to just go away on its own! And to deny it, or to ignore it simply because these incidences or situations doesn't happen exclusively, or even remotely to you is foolish.
Bradley Gumbel Arrested on theft charges, then released |
Its foolish because Racism steeped in Racial Profiling by law enforcement (or whomever) unto violence has a trickle down effect. Just like crack cocaine, and heroin or meth! Not forgetting the many other designer drugs out here trickling down into white society; making collateral damage of young and old white, so-called privileged individuals, thinking that their privileged status will somehow shield them from harm as a result. Not knowing that whomever dares to follow down that lonely path of the compartmentalized, dismantling of the human soul almost always leads to the eventual destruction of ones life as you once knew it.
For most who’ll fall into that trap, the turn around is almost impossible! Still, They'll come a day when law enforcement Won't Need a Racial Reason to Abuse ANYONE! Red, yellow, Black, White or Brown! Just like the advent of Crack Cocaine, the influx of Heroin (be it from the 1960’s and 70’s era, or now), and Meth. As well as the many other designer Frankenstein Drugs that are making white people collateral damage. There will eventually be a trickle down effect with police brutality as well!
They’ll soon be measures put in place and enacted where very soon it won’t matter what color you are. Law enforcement will (pretty much like they are doing right now) be able to kill and abuse whom they will! Just like Aids, Crack Cocaine and other things that started as a plague in the black communities. This abuse and rampage of murderous crimes by law enforcement will soon be infesting suburban areas! There’s already video clip incidences online as I write, where the police are beating and gunning down unarmed white and hispanic youth. Male and female!
Those who do not see the many racial incidences occurring all round us as a problem in this country, carry on as if nothing like this could ever happen to them! “Oh this doesn’t happen to white people!” You say! See, first of all. This abuse is all done in the name of genocide and control of the black race! It is being done as punishment for america electing (twice) a black man as acting President of the United States! And also for its core reason.
The fact that the vast majority of black people living in america are the direct descendants of Africans kidnapped and shipped to this america, and turned into slaves byway of the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade! Although blacks were deemed free. For those who did not, and do not want this to be the case, they see black folk as people without rights, without self-determination, and undeserving of liberty as it is written in the declaration of independence. To those who hate and despise blacks. We are still but runaway property, and a burden to the system! Our only purpose for white america and its industries and domestic employment systems is for the African descendant to work for free while in captivity!
For Bryant Gumbel to acknowledge that his son has been victim to police brutality, even in its most subtle form, is huge! Outright police brutality against blacks has become so typical, and commonplace in this country that our protest against such mistreatment has become almost non-descriptive, uninteresting news, unless people get so riled that they start to burn and loot their areas! Then and only then are black issue news worthy. This shouldn’t happen in a place that calls itself a land of the free!
See, this is what's wrong overall! The fact that something so inhumane as the disproportionate murders of one group of individuals or people becoming commonplace!
Bryant Gumbel has always been known for his wonderful diction and annunciation skills. Not to mention his respectable demeanor as a broadcaster. Making some blacks throughout the years criticize him, accusing him of not being Black Enough, and acting white, just because he doesn't use slang, or present himself as someone from (excuse my lack of better wording) The Ghetto!
Personally, I like the fact that as a broadcaster, Bryant Gumbel has remained a symbol of placidity during hard times for black folks. Like he did through the LA riots back in the 1990’s! Gumbel always seemed to remain unruffled (although some criticized, loosely unconcerned) by the many eras of passing times, and media craziness! Over many decades, Bryant Gumbel has pretty much maintained a constant status of sophistication, finesse and professionalism in his career as a sports announcer, and television host!
If this makes him a person trying to be white. I'd have to say there's a bit of Ignorance, jealously and some deep seeded personal insecurities involved in how some folks may be viewing this man called Bryant Gumbel! See, if mastering the english language, and speaking well, and presenting oneself in a skilled and accomplished manner is explicated as being white. I'd question that accusing person's reasons and rationalization as to how they intelligently came to this conclusion!
Bryant Gumbel's acknowledgement of this issue of police brutality as being real in his life should be an eye opener to many; as Gumbel hardly ever speaks out on social issues, period! To see and hear that Bryant Gumbel not only moved by this issue of race and prejudice in america speaks quite loudly for me, indeed! To know that Bryant Gumbel "Really Get's It" is monumental! From what I gleaned from his frank and honest acknowledgement of his son’s incident is that. “This can happen to anyone!”
